Litter Picking Initiative

We are proud to share the incredible work our Eco Warriors have accomplished this academic year with our focus being "To make our school and its environment greener, cleaner, and more sustainable". At the beginning of the Year the Eco-Warriors helped brainstorm ideas to help us achieve our goal. Here’s what we achieved together for
- Raising Awareness
- Partnered with the RSPCA to learn how recycling helps protect wildlife.
- Created and displayed posters on recycling, saving energy, and not littering.
- Made posters to promote energy saving and reducing waste.
- Reminded adults about our carbon footprint, requesting lights and screens be turned off when rooms were empty.
- Eco Warriors followed up by checking classrooms and turning off lights and screens left on.
- Reducing Waste
- Hosted a Toy Swap, giving pre-loved toys a new home.
- Collected and recycled old uniforms, sorting them by size for reuse.
- Improving Air Quality
- Promoted Walk to School Week, giving out stickers and collecting data on its impact.
- Researched air quality and installed a Zephyr air monitor in the KS2 playground, which was monitored regularly throughout the year.
- Enhancing Our Environment
- Planted new greenery and watered plants around the school.
- Dug up weeds to help prepare for the prayer garden.
- Assisted with OPAL management by filling water butts for the woodland area and mud kitchen.
- Organized litter-picking sessions and ordered new litter pickers to encourage more children to care for our surroundings.
- Exploring Nature
- Investigated the bugs in our school environment, with some Eco Warriors creating “All About Bugs” presentations.
Plus much more.
Looking Ahead to for our new Eco-Warriors
Building on this great work, we look forward to welcoming our new Eco Warriors. We will continue to focus "To make our school and its environment greener, cleaner and more sustainable". Some of our planned initiatives include:
- Creating a Bug Hotel
- Installing wildlife feeders
- Hosting a “Trash is Treasure” Toy Event
- Raising Awareness in our local community.
- Plus much more to keep our school green and thriving!
Thank you to everyone who supported these efforts. Together, we are making a real difference for our school and the environment.
