Pupil Premium Expenditure 2017 - 2018

What is the Pupil Premium?
The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011. The Pupil Premium funding is additional to the main school funding. The aim of the government is for this money to be used to close the gap in attainment nationally between disadvantaged children and other children.
Each school is able to decide how the money they receive is spent.

What did we receive?
For the financial year 2017-2018 we received approximately £50,770.

How did we use this money?
The money was used to fund: additional adult support to provide intervention for groups of children & 1:1 work, up to one day per week family support worker, half a day a week counselling service, training and resources for staff on proven programmes to accelerate progress and additional resources for group work, intervention and SEN.

What were the outcomes for children?

i). End of Key Stage 2 (Y6)
In 2018 24% (7 children) of the children in Yr6 were identified as having been disadvantaged (eligible for and claiming free school meals at any time in the previous six years or looked after).

A.)  Progress (Expected progress)
In terms of progress from the end of Key Stage 1 (Yr2), 100% of these children made expected progress in reading with an average point score of +3.5, 71% made expected progress in writing with an average point score of -0.8,  and 71% made expected progress plus in maths with an average point score of +1.1.

B.) Attainment (Expected attainment at end Yr6)
When compared to disadvantaged children nationally, in Reading - 86% achieved ARE (Age Related Expectation)  compared to 71% nationally, in Writing 57% achieved ARE compared to 76% nationally.  In maths – 70% achieved ARE compared to 75% nationally.

ii). End of Key Stage 1 (Y2)
In 2017 we had four children eligible for pupil premium in Yr2 were identified as having been disadvantaged. This data should be treated with caution due to the small cohort size giving reduced statistical significance with each child representing 25%.
These children made good progress from their attainment at the end of EYFS assessing against ELG.

iii) Gaps Between Disadvantaged Children and Other Pupils
We have been working hard to reduce the identified gap between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged children. The gap between the attainment of our disadvantaged children and non-disadvantaged children nationally has reduced. This means our disadvantaged children are achieving more highly, but not yet as highly as our other children.


We need to focus on reducing in-school gaps identified this year so that our disadvantaged children can achieve as highly as our other children. In particular we are focussing on writing and SPAG at KS1 and KS2.
