The School Standards Committee require all children to wear school uniform. School uniform adds to the identity of the school and further develops the sense of belonging to the school community. It is available directly from the following suppliers:

Leaflet about the Swop Shop

School clothing is:

  • Grey, round neck sweatshirt or grey v-necked cardigan with or without the school crest (Clothing showing the school crest is recommended)
  • White polo shirt – with or without the school crest
  • Grey skirt, grey pinafore or grey/black trousers N.B: leggings, jeans or stretch material type trousers are NOT permitted.
  • Socks/tights should be plain white/navy/grey or black – no patterns please

Summer Term only

  • Plain grey shorts may be worn
  • a blue striped/gingham dress may be worn

The School Standards Committee at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School respects and values the wearing of religious clothing, however, we request that all clothing is in the school colours.

Appropriate clothing for Physical Education is as follows:

  • White t-shirt – with or without the school crest
  • Black shorts
  • Grey or Black joggers may be worn in colder weather
  • Socks *Tights must be removed for health & safety reasons
  • Pumps/trainers with elastic or Velcro (laced pumps/trainers are acceptable if children can tie laces)

For swimming lessons KS2 pupils will require;

  • One piece swimming costume or Trunks – above the knee
  • A towel

Children may wear their P.E. kit to school on days where P.E. is on their class timetable. However, your child will need a pair of pumps/trainers to change into for P.E. lessons. Children should keep their pumps/trainers in a bag labelled with their name, which can be hung on their peg.

Long hair must always be tied back securely. Patterned or ‘cut in’ hairstyles are not permitted.

Please Note:

Make-up and nail enamel are not suitable for school and should NOT be worn.

One or one pair of plain stud earrings in ear lobes only. An analogue or digital watch may be worn – NO other jewellery is permitted.

Only flat, black/navy shoes should be worn inside school. In the interest of safety, all shoes/sandals should have covered toes and ankle supports. They should also be secured with a strap or laces – ballet/pump style shoes are not appropriate for school. We recommend children in Key Stage 1 have Velcro fasteners rather than buckles or laces.

Please note, trainers are not part of our school uniform policy and should not be worn to school in place of school shoes; boots should not be worn inside the school building but may be worn on the journey to/from school.

Any parent/carer experiencing difficulty in meeting the required standard of uniform is invited to contact the school Principal in confidence for support.
