Additional Funding for School

Are you eligible for Free School Meals?

There is an easy way to find out!

Did you know …just registering your child for Free School Meals means the school gets extra money? We’d like to make sure we’re not missing out on vital funding for our school …and need your help! The Government gives money to schools to help children from lower income families do their best. This funding is called ‘Pupil Premium’.

Through a link to a Government database, we are now able to automatically track whether pupils are entitled to Free School Meals.

You can do the check yourself by using this link:

If you prefer you can come to the school office and the staff there will be able to help. The Pupil Premium funding makes a huge difference to the school budget and allows us to provide additional teaching and provision in the school. We have a duty to ensure this funding directly supports eligible families so it is imperative all families check their eligibility. Please help us to ensure we receive the funding we are entitled to.

Allergies

At St Joseph’s, we take allergies extremely seriously and are fully committed to creating a safe, well‑informed environment where every child’s dietary needs are understood, respected, and carefully managed. Natasha’s Law places a vital responsibility on schools to ensure that any food prepared and packaged on site is clearly labelled with a full ingredients list and all allergens highlighted, helping to keep children with allergies safe. In our primary school, we fully comply with these requirements by working closely with our catering team to label all pre‑packed for direct sale (PPDS) items accurately, follow updated Food Standards Agency guidance, and maintain robust procedures for managing allergies. We also support families by sharing clear information, encouraging open communication about dietary needs, and ensuring staff are trained to recognise and respond to allergen risks, creating a safe and inclusive environment for every child.

Intolerances

We also recognise that some children have food intolerances, and we work closely with families to ensure their needs are understood and catered for safely.

Dietary Requirements (Religious diets)

We respect and accommodate religious dietary requirements, ensuring every child can access suitable meal options that honour their family’s beliefs and practices.
